| The University of Missouri Department of
Geography offers a Masters (M.A.) degree that prepares students
for a variety of professions, including careers in academics,
research, public service, and the private sector. |

A primary strength of the MU
Department of Geography is the fact that “big-school”
research facilities and opportunities are wedded with “small-school”
interaction to build a strong sense of community. Whether students
are interested in questions of human geography, the physical environment,
or digital image processing, MU Geography has the facilities and
faculty expertise to guide them through the sometimes intimidating
task of completing a graduate degree. While the campus offers all
the research amenities typical of a Big 12 university, graduate
students in the Department of Geography also enjoy a high degree
of faculty-student interaction and cohesiveness among the student
body. |

Graduates
of our program have gone on to a variety of successful pursuits. Those
interested in continuing further in higher education have gained admission
to some of the best Geography PhD programs in the country, including
The University of Wisconsin-Madison, The University of Minnesota, and
Penn State University. Others are employed with a number of federal
agencies, including the National Park Service , National Imagery and
Mapping Agency & the U.S. Geological Survey, as well as state government,
such as the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Missouri Department
of Transportation. Our graduates are also found working for companies
such as ESRI and Garmin.
We
