The University of Missouri Department of Geography offers a Masters (M.A.) degree that prepares students for a variety of professions, including careers in academics, research, public service, and the private sector.


Core areas of study in the department include:

Graduates of our program have gone on to a variety of successful pursuits. Those interested in continuing further in higher education have gained admission to some of the best Geography PhD programs in the country, including The University of Wisconsin-Madison, The University of Minnesota, and Penn State University. Others are employed with a number of federal agencies, including the National Park Service , National Imagery and Mapping Agency & the U.S. Geological Survey, as well as state government, such as the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Missouri Department of Transportation. Our graduates are also found working for companies such as ESRI and Garmin.
