Facilities
The Department of Geography is housed in Stewart Hall, on the historic 'White Campus' (named for its century-old limestone buildings) of the University of Missouri - Columbia. locator map
There are excellent facilities for teaching and research within the Department, including:

 

The Geographic Resources Center

The Geographic Resources Center is a multidisciplinary applied research and teaching facility for the analysis of geographic and remote sensing data. The GRC conducts projects of local, state and national interest,
such as the Lewis & Clark Historic Landscape Project.

Spatial Analysis & Modeling (SpAM) Lab

The SpAM lab houses state-of-the-art teaching and research computing resources for GIS and Remote Sensing. The lab contains 30 machines equipped with software such as ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcView and ENVI.

 

The Geo-Environmental Analysis Lab

The Geo-Environmental Analysis Lab provides wet lab facilities especially supportive of the active program of fieldwork in physical geography research and instruction.
The lab houses soil and sediment analysis equipment, a Swoffer stream flow meter, a Velmex tree-ring measuring system and surveying tools that include GPS receivers, a total station, and an auto-level.

 

The Jesse Wheeler Library

The Jesse Wheeler Library holds the Department's significant collection of geography books and journals, and serves as home to many of the graduate seminars taught by the faculty.

 

 

TA offices

Teaching and Research assistants are provided with office space for planning their lessons, reading the latest journal articles, and writing their theses.
